The new book captures a lot of that experimental courtship in photos, bold experiments in typography, and engaging attempts to create one of the most honest pieces of printed art yet seen. Imagine two very close long-time friends. One dives into serious relationships, the other is afraid of commitment. Stuck together in a crazy experiment, can the two find love and themselves in 40 days? Sounds like a cheesy romantic comedy? From March 20 to April 28, Jessica and Tim committed to date each other exclusively.

They saw each other every day, went on at least three dates a week and saw a couples therapist once a week.

Goodman and Walsh clearly have an affinity for testing their own limits, as evidenced by their challenge to hold hands for eight straight hours on Day The results unfurled not unlike episodes of The Bachelor —after the fact, and one morsel at a time, so that fans anxiously waited for each new installment of relationship confessionals—only in the aesthetic of design professionals.

Goodman and Walsh commissioned colorful, GIF-ed out pieces of typography from friends, and outfitted the site with illustrations, photos of relationship souvenirs, and, perhaps most tellingly of the times, screenshots of text messages. It all makes for incredibly voyeuristic, potent storytelling. Tools like Facebook and Instagram make this kind of personal anthologizing widely accessible.
